On Saturday, November 19, from noon to 4:30 p.m., Breathe N Flow Yoga, in Freeport, will be offering a Childbirth Education class, which incorporates numerous methods to educate couples on various topics for labor preparation. Instructor Efi Nunez is a certified childbirth educator and hypnobirthing and yoga instructor with more than nine years of experience as a labor and delivery nurse.
Topics that will be covered in the one-day class include the following:
- How labor works: signs, stages, when to call, when to go.
- The full range of natural coping strategies, such as massage, breathing, guided imagery, aromatherapy and positioning.
- What to expect emotionally and physically during the child-birth process.
- Epidurals and other pain-management options discussed and explained.
- All you need to know about medical procedures, such as monitoring, induction of labor, and cesarean birth.
- What to expect during your hospital stay: policies, procedures, safety and security.
- The many ways to support a woman in labor.
