NA: What does it mean to you to be the owner of your own business?

Owing my specialty practice means having the freedom to treat my patients as I see fit with the TrapEAZE Technique and the Bladder RE-EXPANSION Technique. Both are unique orthopedic and urological treatments that I’ve developed, patented and perfected by treating patients for more than a decade. It’s important to be able to offer proven upper back pain and overactive bladder treatments for patients who need effective solutions who also don’t want to resort to surgery or drugs.

NA: Who is your role model or mentor, and how have they helped you to realize your dream?

My first role model was Dr. Tu, who I interned under in my college town in 1997. He blazed a trail in Upstate New York by offering excellent health care for patients who weren’t getting better with conventional medicine. After interning with him for seven months, he laid down the pathway by which he wanted to see me succeed. He wrote a letter so I could get into Oriental medical school and also got me a job working at his classmate’s practice in Oneonta, New York, where I spent three years.

NA: What is your work “tribe” like, and how do the people you surround yourself with help you to keep going?

I’m deeply honored to have two brilliant medical doctors in my inner circle who help me to keep pushing my boundaries. These doctors share the same vision as I do of wanting to help millions of patients to get better. Conversations with them are always extremely stimulating and incredibly enjoyable. The key is to find like-minded people who want the same outcome as you.

NA: Any advice for young (or not so young) men/women who may be thinking of going out on their own?

Follow your dreams and find someone to teach you who has traveled down the same path that you want to go down! Also, make sure that you do extensive research to verify that you’re going in the right direction. This can potentially save what could be years of wasted time, money and effort, and this can also reinforce that you’re doing what’s best for you.
