Cara Stone is the owner of the beautiful Yoga Nanda, located in Long Beach and Garden City, and her studios’ mission is “to build a yoga community where the patron can know their truth, speak their truth, and hold their truth in their heart. Through physical, emotional and spiritual self-realization, we as a humanity grow to unite with our larger collective in compassion and service.”
The Garden City studio opened in 2011 as Garden City’s first standalone yoga studio and was passed on to Stone in 2013. The Long Beach location was passed to Stone in 2014, and from then on, both studios have been a spiritual home base for those that have a greater purpose.
The studios offer a wide array of yoga styles that cater to everyone, from brand new students to well-seasoned practitioners. From restorative and yin yoga to advanced vinyasa and ashtanga yoga to meditation classes, there is truly something for everyone in the Yoga Nanda community. “Our core values of compassion, service and self-realization continue to guide our offerings as our united and blossoming community continues to grow,” says Stone.
Both Yoga Nanda locations offer extensive workshops year-round, including monthly sound baths, philosophy courses, asana workshops, retreats, restorative workshops, ayurveda, Thai massage, partner yoga, reiki and yoga nidra, to name a few. They also offer weekly classes in aerial yoga, yogi barre, and donation-based community classes, which raise money for local nonprofits. “Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program, The Path to Self-Realization, runs from November to March, and we host many other trainings throughout the year, including Restorative and Kids Yoga,” says Stone. “No matter what age, skill set or physical condition, there is an offering of this healing practice that suits every body.”
