The Center for the Alignment of Body, Mind and Spirit, in Wantagh, will be sponsoring a food drive November 2 through 18. The center will be collecting food donations for Long Island Cares: The Harry Chapin Food Bank, which provides emergency food where and when it is needed, sponsors programs that help families achieve self-sufficiency, and educates the general public about the causes and consequences of hunger on Long Island. Approximately 300,000 people on Long Island receive emergency food each year.
The center needs people’s help to reach its goal of 1,200 pounds of food. To thank people for their donation, they will receive a $10 gift card to be used toward services offered at the center, which include chiropractic, acupuncture, massage therapy, Reiki, nutritional guidance and spiritual counseling.
Donations of nonperishable food items can be dropped off at 2050 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh, during normal business hours (Mon-Wed-Fri: 9 a.m.-noon and 3-7 p.m.; Tues: 4-7 p.m.; and Sat: 9:30 a.m.-noon) from November 2-18. For more information, call 516-221-3500.
