It’s almost that time of the year when the air
is crisp and we all have to get back to our everyday lives. Now is the time to transform our home into that elegant space we have been dreaming about all summer. Yes, it’s time for fall cleaning, decluttering and organizing. Here are a few tips to help make our environ- ment look better and make us feel better in it.
To start, make three piles:
A. Stuff we absolutely know we don’t need or want and will be donated or thrown. B: Stuff we’re not quite sure of and will need to deliberate on.
C: Stuff we want and need.
We should determine what to do with the B pile by asking ourselves, “When was the last time I used these things? Do they go with my lifestyle? Are they the best I think I could have?
Once the process of sorting is finished, think of choosing a new paint color. Paint can transform any space and make it feel like one’s own style and give one comfort.
Next, it’s time to replace one’s old blinds—like the ones that have that broken string or maybe the paper shades, which have been there since one bought one’s house four years ago. Modern window treatment can now be made without string and can be motorized or hand operated.
Also consider fixing chairs or couches that are ripped or flattened from wear. Simply having them reupholstered can make them look brand new.
