Richard McCarthy recently became the new Executive Director for Slow Food USA. Longtime member of Slow Food and founder of Market Umbrella, a nonprofit mentor organization that advises 1,250 public markets on working with farmers, shoppers, chefs, communities and regulatory officials, McCarthy offers a chance for local chapters to grow, as well as the organization as a whole.
Slow Food is an international organization dedicated to good, clean and fair food. They believe that access to healthy, nutritious food is an inherent right, not a privilege, and that people who grow food should be paid a fair wage. Slow Food Huntington is an active local chapter for Queens, Nassau and Western Suffolk counties.
