On February 17, iEat Green, in conjunction with the Sierra Club and 350.org, combined forces to represent Long Island’s voice against the issue of climate change and the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada. The organizations took the initiative to organize two buses, filled with activists from all over Long Island, to share a common voice against the dangers we are faced with currently and in years to come.

Filled with people of all different age groups, from students to senior citizens, sharing a common goal to keep the environment clean and safe for future generations, the buses finally arrived in Washington D.C.

“This is what democracy looks like!” and “Hey Obama, we don’t want no climate drama!” were two of the many chants that were heard throughout the day. True passion, enthusiasm, and adrenalin burst out of every single individual at the rally. The event made history, as there were 50,000 present, making it the largest climate change rally in America’s history.

To finish the day off, both buses were served a hot, vegan, gluten-free dinner, on their ride back to Long Island, compliments of iEat Green.
