Chiropractic Is Not Just Neck and Back

Most people upon hearing the words chiropractic or chiropractor immediately think of neck and back pain relief. However, modern chiropractic is really far more than the skilled manipulation of bones. Many chiropractors have specialized in advanced nutrition, neurological techniques, reflex stimulation modalities, and many other modern and ancient techniques to help heal the body naturally without the use of drugs or surgery.

Many of these systems are not directed at the spine at all. However, in many ways all things lead back to the nervous system, as it controls and measures all activities of the body.

Problems within various organs often reflect themselves in the contraction of the muscles and misalignment of the spine around the organs’ corresponding nerve roots, which lay on or near the spine. For example, that means if you have chronic stress, which often depletes the abilities of the adrenal glands, the area of your back, regarded to as T9- to T12, may become tight and even change position. Those nerves travel not just to the adrenal glands but also to the area just above the belly button. Many people when highly stressed or anxious thus feel the proverbial “butterflies in the stomach” or a hardness in their belly as a result. In such a situation, not only would it be wise to support the adrenal glands with an appropriate supplement but to, perhaps, apply a chiropractic adjustment to the nerves T9 to T12 to stimulate a faster response and “reset” the system. Other chiropractors may even massage the “butterflies,” as it may stimulate a healing response by back-feeding through the somatic nerves. These are just some of the chiropractic techniques designed to help heal organ issues rather than the spine. Every organ, gland and system has a relationship such as this and can be affected through manual and other means to stimulate the innate healing response of the body, and often reverse and prevent disease.

I always recommend using an experience holistic health practitioner to assist in the safe and effective healing of the body.
